Soft Life, Who Dis?

Soft Life, Who Dis?

Aesthetic perfection ≠ Soft Life

So, you’re finally in your soft girl era, with slow mornings, ten-step skincare routines, OOTDs, and chic brunches. You’ve curated a life that looks effortless, calm, and perfectly styled. And while all of this is conducive to soft living, it begs the question: is your life actually soft? For most Black women the answer is no. Family, friends, partners, and work demand all your time and energy, leaving very little for yourself. Black women have been taught to show up, perform and prove ourselves no matter the cost.

Claiming Your Soft Life

But we are taking our power back and claiming our soft girl era. Except this is more than an era, it’s a strategy. A strategy that shows you how to live softly from the inside out. And if you’re reading this post, it means you’re ready to make softness your new standard. The Soft Girl Era Playbook is your next step — a grounded guide to building a life that feels as good as it looks.

As the saying goes, “you cannot serve two masters,” and therefore you cannot say you want to live a soft life while also trying to be everything to everybody.

To live soft means to prioritize yourself and only invest your time and energy in the things that align with your values, standards, and boundaries.

Living Soft in Practice

Nobody can “put you in your soft girl era”; you have to choose it intentionally every day until it becomes your way of life. Living soft means protecting your energy, honoring your time, and focusing on what matters most to you. Your soft life must be ruthlessly guarded by your values, standards, and boundaries, even when the world expects otherwise.

Living softly takes thought and care, and it looks different for everyone. It’s not defined by how your mornings look or how your feed reads. It’s defined by what you protect, what you choose, and how you move through the world. Living soft is quiet strength, it’s control, and it’s owning your life unapologetically.

This is just the beginning. In the next post, we’ll explore what it really takes to live softly — the mindset, the strategies, and the steps that make softness more than just a moment or a trend.
